SYSTEM BENEFITS
Reduces restrictions on track use.
By reducing the use of heavy plant this lightweight system impinges
on rail lines to a lower degree allowing continued use of the
line with a 40mph speed restriction throughout site preparation.
Lightweight System
Using the principles of lightweight embankment construction the
need for deep foundations or piling is eliminated for normal
ground conditions. Consolidation of the base and a sand blinding
layer are all that is required.
Speed of Construction
Laying the platform blocks is quick and easy and can be carried
out by two men.

Versatile
The blocks can be cut to suit individual site conditions and details.
The system allows maximum flexibility to the designer.

Concrete Topping
An in situ reinforced concrete topping is installed over the platform
blocks ready for a wearing surface of tarmac or other specified
finish.

Facing System
A concrete post and plank system is fixed to the front of the platform
and can be supplied by Vencel Resil. Support brackets for the platform
edge copings are also used to restrain the facings and provide
a positive fixing. Track possession will be required only for the
installation of the brackets, facings and copings.

Dimensions
Standard platform blocks are 2440 x 1220 x 610mm, but can be produced
to meet most design criteria. Rebates for coping details are incorporated.

Grade
Platform blocks are manufactured to suit individual design requirements
but normally Fillmaster 70 grade will accommodate compressive requirements.

Fire
All blocks incorporate a flame-retardant additive to minimise the
risk of accidental ignition during construction. Once construction
is complete the surface finish of concrete will provide fire protection
to the structure.
